Smelting ores to make bars can be done two ways:

The first way is by going to a furnace, and using the primary ore on the furnace.

The second way is by using the level 43 magic spell - Superheat Item.
(It takes 4 Fire Runes and 1 Nature Rune to cast Superheat Item)

Smithing

Now that you have smelted the ore into a bar, you can smith the bar into certain items.
There is no magic spell to smith, so you will have to go to an anvil.

Remember to bring a hammer with you.

Use the bar with an anvil, and then choose what you would like to make. You can make more than one at a time right click the item on the screen that comes up and choose to make 1, 5, or 10 of it.
Dwarven Stout

Need to smith something, but you need 1 more level to make it? No problem! Simply go to the Falador bar, talk to the barmaid, and order a Dwarven stout (They cost 3 GP each).

When you drink a Dwarven Stout, your smithing level and your mining level will temporarily go up 1 level.

It takes 2 to 4 Dwarven Stouts, per trip to the anvils, depending on how fast/slow you are.

It usually takes me about 3 Dwarven Stouts per trip
